George Weiss, Chairman and CEO

George M. Weiss, founder and CEO of Beechtree Capital, LLC, is an accomplished attorney, entrepreneur and venture capitalist with 40 years of senior management and investing experience with start-up and emerging companies. George has been a company founder, officer and board member as well as a senior advisor to top-level executives in high-growth industries around the world. 

His investment and management expertise has contributed to the growth of numerous new or emerging companies in developing industries. Among his many successes have been his contributions to the growth of American Tower Corporation, the predecessor of Rogers Cable, Nexsan Technologies, XOS Technologies and numerous other publicly and privately-held companies.  George, on behalf of Beechtree Capital, has succeeded in over 85% of Beechtree investments where he has served as lead investor.

Throughout his career, George has served on the Boards of Directors and Audit and Executive Committees of over 15 emerging private and NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE companies. He has served as Chairman of the Board and/or Chairman of the Audit, Executive and other key Committees in 9 of these companies.

George currently serves as a founding investor, management advisor and board member of five privately-held Beechtree portfolio companies: Nexsan Technologies, XOS Technologies, Employment Support Services Inc. VeriFIDES Technology Corp, and Strategic Labor, Inc. Each of these companies are described in the Experience section of this web site.

In addition to his accomplished business ventures, George currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board, Committee Chairman and senior leader within The National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame, a 60-year old institution promoting athletic and academic excellence and the Play It Smart Foundation, a creator and overseer of innovative educational and athletic programs for inner city youth. He also serves as Board Member and Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committees of The Global Hunger Project, a 30 year old strategic organization working on four continents to end hunger and provide basic human rights.

George earned a Masters of Arts degree and a Juris Doctorate degree with honors from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University.
